The First Thing About The Grand Canyon

What You Need To Know

The biggest, possibly critical, detail missed by people before they plan a trip to the Grand Canyon. You can’t see and do it all in one day. If you want to brave the Skywalk in GC West and take a selfie at Horseshoe Bend you’ll need to make the 5 1/2 hour drive to get from one end of the park to the other. Not exactly a day trip.

Attractions

The top three attractions that bring people to the grand canyon are the South Rim, Horseshoe Bend, and the Skywalk. But did you know you can’t visit all three in one day. They’re hours apart from one another and depending on where you stay may put you in one of three states. For example, you’ll need to visit Utah for the north rim, Arizona for the south rim, or stay on the Famous Las Vegas Strip to visit GC west.

Prioritizing what you want to see the most can drastically change your trip from where you stay to where you fly in or out of.

Find Out More

For more information about Grand Canyon West check out my other blog. This area is amazing and is ran by the Havasupai Tribe. If you’re interested in hiking to Havasupai Falls, which went viral on Instagram, this is the area of the canyon you need to check out.

Helicopter Tours

GC West is also the only area of the canyon with Helicopter Tours that dive down into the canyon and land on the bottom. One tour includes a view from the top, a helicopter down to the river to meet with a river guide to take guest down stream.

It is very good for you to get yourself aquainted with a lot of useful information about the place you are setting out to, one a the angles and do your map reading in order to be able to say how safe or not it is for you . Grand Canyon can be really beautiful and interesting to explore but this has been really helpful.

I’m glad it was helpful, I had to make several trips to the Grand Canyon before I knew all of this. It motivated me to help people who don’t live close and it’s the only chance they have to make the best of it. Knowing what you want to do will change which area of the park to visit and even which city to fly into.

Okay, quote an interesting one to see you restructuring fact here and clearing the myth that it takes a whole day to actually complete the journey in here which actually has been circulating around here before surely a very good one here and thannkyoi for offering this information. Surely the grand canyon would be the perfect destination to breathe the new life after all these covid period olis over

It really is, but knowing what you want to do and how much time you have will change which location you go to and which city you will want to fly into. Hopefully, this helps.

It is a good thing to see you write something about the grand Canyon and I suppose that it’s really nice that one is able to learn something new every day. That’s pretty good and I’m sure that it would be very good of my friends too can also learn a thing or Two about it too. It really is a sight to behold.

Oh, it is. It’s something everyone should see at least once. If you do plan a trip, let me know and share your pictures. If you have any questions I would be happy to help.

These are some great pictures of the Grand Canyon. Reading your post has changed the planning of our trip.

I had set one day to visit Grand Canyon. Now that I have dived into this, we also want to do several things. We don’t want to miss the Colorado river rafting. Nor skip the desert oasis in Havasu Falls.

We finally agreed to 3 days for the Grand Canyon experience.

Three days is great for the Grand canyon, though Havasupai falls is a 10 mile hike into the reservation at Grand Canyon West and it will require permits that are hard to get. Here’s a link for the permit info if you must hike Havasupai but if you’re going to do both you’ll need more than three days. If you do get permits to hike to the waterfall, Havasupai alone will take up most of that time. Hike in-camp overnight-waterfall-camp overnight-hike out. Grand Canyon National park and Grand Canyon West both need a day to themselves.
